BKB – shares inspiration
This week, thought we might chat to author Debbie Behan about how Immortal Espionage came to life.
Debbie tells us it was while researching mythology, she came across an interesting story about Asclepius who was the god of medicine, healing, rejuvenation and physicians. Told us, Asclepius had a love of snakes and while studying these reptiles uncovered their secret of giving eternal life to one another. Zeus found out Asclepius had formulated this herb mix for human use. Feared they would be overpopulated by immortal beings on Earth, Zeus killed the physician. But because of his great accomplishments in the medical field, placed him in the sky as the constellation Ophiuchus. Here the doctor lives out his immortal life in the stars.
Intrigued by this story, Debbie wondered what may have happened to those on Earth, he shared this secret with. One night while unable to sleep she began to scribble down a what if, and was the beginning of the tale, Immortal Espionage.
For those who get to read the EBook or Paperback version, you won’t find Asclepius, but for an inspiring writer, it allows you to see, how a simple bit of nostalgia can give rise to a story, and in this case, it shows how some humans treat others, when they are different.
